Essay Writing - How to Write a Thesis Statement

Essay Writing - How to Write a Thesis StatementEssay writing can be very time consuming, and that is why many students choose to have their thesis statement prepared before they begin their assignment. The purpose of a thesis statement is to outline the specific areas of your scholarship and literature research. As a professor of a post-graduate program in English, I find that it is a valuable tool for improving my students' writing skills. As you work on your research, it can become very tedious, and as a teacher I want to help my students to have fun with it by providing them with exercises that will make their writing more efficient. When preparing a thesis statement, there are many tips that you can use to help it flow more easily.First, you should realize that it is okay to include a bit of filler in your statement. This should be short and simple, so it can catch the eye of the reader when reading your paper. It may be appropriate to use a phrase such as 'to simplify'to highligh t.' Remember that this is what helps establish your thesis.Second, your statement should not be overly formal. Most of the time, your thesis statement does not require much analysis, so feel free to use general terms such as 'reader,' 'existence,' 'author,' 'political'biographical.' It is best to avoid long explanations of your specific concerns.Third, keep your statement simple and concise. Don't write several paragraphs, especially if you do not know the answers to your questions. This is too much information for the reader to process. When writing an essay, you should focus on finding the answer to your question, and you will probably find it as you research and write.Fourth, try to make your writing as straightforward as possible and always remember to use a brief example. You donot want to bore your reader with a lengthy description of your situation.Fifth, consider editing your statement. Do not be afraid to delete information that doesn't seem relevant to your thesis. In addi tion, you may add your own thoughts that you want to include in your paper. These tips are really helpful in keeping your writing simple, and you will be less likely to forget ideas or facts when reviewing your writing later. Before you know it, you will be writing a thesis statement like the next professor!
